Character Work

Although my character didn't have many lines he still had a huge physical role to fill due to the fact that I was playing a man who was being seduced by a murderer. I knew that I could physically change myself but even if so I would still mentally need to know where I am as an actor representing this character.

Decisions I have made about my character

1. Constantly move about in the chair - this could connote that he is man whom can't take control of his body or his actions, the fact that he must always change positions may show that he lacks in physical constraint.

2. Use different paces with my voice - I thought if maybe I made the character use a range of different paces it could show his eagerness but then show his urge to want to step back as he slows down his speech. Voice is a major tool in theatre and if used correctly can create a character or break it.

3. Slouch - A slouch could connote a certain social status in society, he is supposed to be an officer someone of a high ranking, yet the presence of this woman is almost making him weak and fall to his knees. His easily influenced body is one that reacts to the flick of a hair so I have also decided to move each time Blondie makes a physical sexual gesture at me.

Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are. -Brecht

  1. This a great summary of the character choices you made to play the role of your character.
